Testimonials from event hosts

The evaluations for Mr. Germano's presentation were the best that we have had in the 8 years of providing this workshop.

We would love an opportunity to bring Roy back to Lubbock!

  1. - Tricia Vowels, Texas Department State Health Services

It was truly a pleasure to work with Roy Germano for two screenings of The Other Side of Immigration at Arizona State University. At both screenings in Tempe and the West-Campus, about 250 people attended. Roy is a charismatic and dynamic speaker. The audience remained engaged throughout the question and answer session. He presented the issues in such a way as not to alienate the audience or anyone with a particularly strong opinion on either side of the immigration debate. The outcome was very productive. During the Q&A, an individual strongly against immigration reform applauded Roy for accurately summarizing the forces pushing people to emigrate. At the end of a long question and answer period, people lined up to talk further with Roy. Everyone agreed that he is an exceptional public speaker.

  1. -Julia Sarreal, Assistant Professor of History, Arizona State University

The evaluations received after the conference on Mr. Germano’s session clearly demonstrated how well received he was.... For those of us who have had the distinct pleasure of meeting Mr. Germano and hearing him speak on such an important issue, we cannot speak highly enough about his ability to deliver a clear, concise, very knowledgeable message.

- Mary Zelazny, CEO Finger Lakes Community Health, NYS Farmworker Health Conference

In our post event survey, attendees described Roy as captivating, well informed, and thoughtful. Roy’s presentation fulfilled our goal of learning about and discussing controversial topics in a civil manner.

I would like to thank you for the inspiration you spread to us young, college kids. As I'm sure you realize, you are the face of young activism and motivation.

Thank you so much for giving the presentation yesterday. Right after the presentation I went back to the dorm and sent my congressman an e-mail. It is a topic that interests me very much and am very passionate about. I would like to learn more information about how to get involved or volunteer. Mexico is my home so I love learning about these things. Thanks a lot!

I enjoyed this movie so much yesterday! I know it was supposed to be informative, but many times I was crying there in my seat thinking of how little I know of these peoples' struggle, and how much I feel for them and the children!

It was inspiring to see your screening fill up with with spongey minded students. I think that there is always room for us to soak up stories that we do not know yet, I can see your film is going to mean a lot to our country and policies. Best of luck, and thanks for your inspiration.

This video is a very powerful tool. The story it tells is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. We are a non-profit social services agency that advocates for immigration reform and services to Migrant farm workers, mostly of whom are undocumented. This video made me cry.

This film truly inspired me to want to volunteer. I was wondering if you knew about any summer programs in Mexico that deal with helping families and children. Thank you again.

Saw the screening this morning at the Texas Tech Cultural Center. We were glued to our seats. Thought provoking and insightful.

Easily the most enlightening 55 minutes I've had in a long time.

This film is a "must see." Thank you Mr. Germano for an insightful look into the other side and much more.

I want to commend you for extending your experience with other immigrants during your waitressing years... digging deeper, finding the depths of the issue and creating something so moving. Lord knows we all have these types of experiences, though most leave them there in that moment. I commend you for doing the contrary, something extraordinary and much needed. Thank you!

I really enjoyed the film! Thank you for your dedication & spreading the message. I think it will open the eyes of many. My dad actually lives in Morelia so the film really hit home. Great work!

Hello! I wanted to tell you how much I enjoyed and admired your film. So wonderful. It is truly powerful and can't wait for more people to be able to see it. I also wanted to let you know that I am seriously interested in the volunteer opportunities that you mentioned and really hope to get involved in your movement. Thanks for making such a powerful film!

Mr. Germano, I saw your film at Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ and was really impressed with your film. I have been talking it up to everyone I know and People desperately need to see this film.

Thank you for this wonderful work.  As an immigrant who came to this country looking for what the people in the video are looking for (survival), I can definitely identify.  Thank you for taking this work to others so that in the future, we are seen as humans looking for an opportunity rather than as invaders who want to take jobs others.

Your movie is awesome. It told my Father's side of his story. Love it!
